Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.

City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.

A senior official stated the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
